Protestantism
and Catholicism - more information
"Where can I get some specific
information on the differences between Protestantism and Catholicism?"
The single best resource I have found (without getting into super
detail that would require a Ph.D. in Theology or equivalent) is The
Facts on Roman Catholicism from Ankerberg Theological Research Institute.
They also have videotapes on related topics (and a lot of
other apologetics topics!)
For a quote-for-quote comparison in both English and Spanish
see: Catechism
of the Catholic Church Compared to the Bible.
For more detailed information, contact Proclaiming
the Gospel, Box 940871, Plano, Texas 75094, telephone 972-495-0485 and
ask for their free pamphlet Roman Catholicism: Scripture vs. Tradition.
It has an excellent discussion of the difference between Catholic and
Protestant teachings, with section numbers from the official Cathechism
of the Catholic Church and cites to the Bible. It is also a good
"cheat sheet" for any Christian witnessing or teaching,
since it contains the text of the major biblical sections regarding
salvation and will fit in a shirt pocket.
